DOL Expands Leave Rights Under FMLA
On June 22, 2010, under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor clarified the definition of "son or daughter" with respect to non-military leave. Now leave rights will be granted to individuals who assume parental responsibilities such as providing day-to-day care or financial support for a child, regardless of whether there is a biological or legal relationship between the individual and the child. Agencies Issue Guidance on Health Reform Provisions
Recently the Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury and Labor released an additional guidance package on important provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). After issuing rules regarding the extension of coverage to adult children and the maintenance or loss of “grandfathered plan” status, the agencies provided final regulations on many of the provisions of PPACA resulting in many questions from employers regarding group health plans and health insurance issuers. Employers Reshaping Talent Management Programs as Economy Shifts Toward Growth
As the economy starts to rebound from the recent recessionary period, employers are looking to revamp their talent management programs with the idea that the coming months will bring greater competition for key talent as companies start to hire.
