At Least 1,550 Seek to Keep Car Dealerships
The American Arbitration Association has received paperwork from 1,550 Chrysler, Jeep and GM dealers seeking reinstatement. Chrysler expects to spend hundreds of millions of dollars defending itself in the process, as its decisions were based more on how dealers fit into its overall network rather than on each dealership‘s individual performance. Each case will be handled individually, in the state where the dealership was located, meaning each company must send teams of representatives to various cities simultaneously. Hearings are expected to begin in March, and the process is scheduled to finish by mid-June.
