	Comply Or Else-U.S. Outlines Plan to Curb Violations of Labor Law In a move to ensure that companies do not violate equal employment, job safety and wage laws, the U.S. Labor Department plans to require American companies to create and adopt compliance plans. The intention is to replace the current “catch me if you can” system with a culture of compliance among employers. Requirements would order employers to prepare and implement compliance plans while having to also provide proof that the plans are effective. Article by Steven Greenhouse, The New York Times

	Automotive Supplier Pays Heavy Price In EEOC Settlement A recent settlement of a complaint alleging sexual harassment, disability discrimination, and retaliation brought against an automobile supplier illustrates the potential liability for employers who even arguably violate the law. These cases, prosecuted by the EEOC on behalf of the employee, will only continue to increase with the current Administration. Having a workforce and compliance management system in place to train employees on policies, ensure proper documentation and report on problems will be even more important in the coming months. 	New Law Creates Tax Incentives To Hire Unemployed Workers As part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act (HIRE Act), employers should be aware that they may be eligible for up to $7,621 in tax incentives for every unemployed worker they hire between February 4, 2010, and December 31, 2010.
