Underground and Above Ground Storage Tanks
Any underground or aboveground storage tank used to store petroleum products, hazardous waste, or other hazardous materials is regulated by Federal Regulations, 40 CFR 112 and /or local State law/State Fire codes.
Underground Storage Tanks (UST) laws and regulations apply to all owners and operators of UST systems containing regulated substances. Regulated substances typically include, but are not limited to, used oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, automatic transmission fluid, and solvents. UST’s are primarily used for the storage of petroleum products. They are usually found at service stations, connected to boilers/steam generators, or connected to emergency generators.
The Underground and Above Ground Storage Tanks program includes the following elements:
- Policies and Procedures
- Supervisor Guidelines
- Quarterly Audit/Review Checklist
