Good-Faith Effort
You know the situation. The F&I Manager's menu lacks all of the terms and rates, but he says "it works, so why change it?" The service manager refuses to hire a woman. A salesperson occasionally makes racial comments about customers to their colleagues. You know it's illegal, and potentially costly to your dealership, but do they?

"It is improper to assess large settlements or awards against an employer that undertakes ‘good-faith efforts' to comply with employment discrimination laws."
United States Supreme Court Kolstad v. ADA (1999)
According to the US Supreme Court, if you've made a "good-faith effort" to educate and train your employees, and you can prove it, then the risk of fines and penalties can be greatly reduced.
Compli based the development of the Dealership Compliance Management System (DCMS) on this "good-faith effort" ruling and the Federal Sentencing guidelines which can be applied to much more than employee discrimination.
