An employee handbook is like an instruction manual for building your organizational culture. It tells your workforce what’s expected of them, and the best ways to accomplish your organization’s mission. And when an obstacle arises or someone neglects to follow the guidelines, it’s not only the first place to go for help, but serves as evidence—in a legal dispute—that you understand and follow the law.
Unlike an instruction manual, however, an employee handbook doesn’t just show up in your first box of office supplies. You need to create it and continually update it, pulling knowledge from your compliance, legal, and human resources departments.
