The Trillion-Dollar Problem: Employee Disengagement (Stat of the Week)
A few weeks ago, we wrote about why happy employees are 12% more productive, and explored the role of your company culture and culture of compliance in keeping your workforce engaged.
This week, let’s take a look this issue from the flipside: the costs associated with disengaged, unhappy employees. (The following statistic comes from our Definitive Guide to Workforce Compliance).

A disengaged employee costs an organization about $3,400 per every $10,000 they take home, and more than two-thirds (70%) of US workers report disengagement with their work. We won’t do the math here, but with over 140 million people employed in the US, our country could be losing trillions every year due to unhappiness.
Yikes. Hopefully, this will inspire us all to give our employees and co-workers—and ourselves—a little more appreciation for the work we all do.
