Getting to Know Compli: Meet Toby
Ok, if you’ve read a post or two on the blog, you’ve met me already. I’m in charge of Marketing Communications around here, which is pretty entertaining. I love the challenge of adding fun and humor into what can sometimes be a painfully dry topic. Compliance is fascinating, when you dig down into it.
Anyway, I’m excited to have nominated a charity for our next Compli Cares event…Neighborhood House. They’re a wonderful organization based in Southwest Portland, that touches disadvantaged residents across ages and ethnicities. They do it all – run a Head Start early childhood learning center, a Senior Center, a heavily-used food pantry.
My daughter and I have packed beans for them in their food pantry before. It’s actually fun – you end up chatting with a bunch of interesting people from the neighborhood. The have a lovely community garden that gives off bumper crops of fresh veggies – which are often hard for food pantries to stock and so important for everyone’s diets. I walked past the garden this morning on my way to work, and it’s in need of a good spring clean out.
Fingers crossed that my co-workers vote for Neighborhood House – although any charity we get to work with will be wonderful.
Stay tuned. We’ll keep you posted on our next event.
