Drug-Free Workplace Act

(DFWA) Under this act federal contractors with contracts of $100,000 or more and federal grant recipients are required to certify that they’re taking the necessary steps to maintain a drug-free workplace. Also several states have enacted laws related to drug-free workplaces. Often these laws apply to most or all employers within the state, not just those with federal or state contracts, or receiving federal or state grants. As part of the Drug-Free Workplace Act, covered employers are required to develop a policy prohibiting unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of a control substance in the workplace; identify what disciplinary actions will be taken for policy violations.
