Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act
(WARN) Requires certain employers to provide a minimum of 60 calendar days advanced written notice in the event of a plant closing or mass layoff. This 60 days advanced written notice must be given to affected workers, their local and international union representatives, state dislocated worker units in the affected areas, and the chief elected official of the local government where the closing or layoff will occur. The WARN Act applies to employers of 100 or more employees who in the aggregate, work at least 4,000 regular hours per week at all sites.
