Quick Q&A – We’re ethical already. Why put it on paper?
We’re starting out 2016 with a new weekly feature, the Compliance Quick Q&A. Each week we’ll take questions from our readers and get you answers from our panel of authors who have deep knowledge in the field.
Here’s our inaugural question:
My company is managed by highly ethical people. Why do I need a formal written compliance program?
Rick’s Answer:
Regardless of whether or not you consider your management ethical, you need to instill a sense of ethics throughout the organization. It’s especially important if you’re in a high-growth industry or one that is known for high turnover of employees. And whether you’re a large organization or small, all your employees, suppliers and third party vendors need to know that you hold them to an ethical standard as well. So, yes, you absolutely need an ethics program.
