Quick Q&A: How does an automated CMS deal with National and Regional Regulations?
Here’s this week’s compliance question:
How can an automated CMS take into account all the regulations we deal with both nationally and state to state?
Brian’s Answer:
Absolutely that’s challenging. One thing to remember about a system of any kind, and certainly your CMS and your corporate compliance program in general, is that they are never finished. They are living, breathing, evolving systems, you’re always going to be adding producers, policies or editing those that you already have. So, there is no finish line, but certainly having an automated system is going to make it much easier for you to manage all that content.
One of the nice values we can provide if it is content that we are providing such as from Hudson Cook or Fisher & Phillips; we, along with our partners monitor those related rules, laws, regulations that those policies and procedures and trainings are built on…whenever there are significant changes to any of those laws or regulations that warrants a change to the content, the policy, procedure or training that supports that…those changes are made on our end with our subject matter experts and then we push those changes out to our clients.
There’s not really a way to make sure you have 100 percent of any and all policies and regulations that are out there, but we can drastically improve the odds.
