Stat of the Week: This is How Much Truckers Matter
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week may be over, but you know what? We’re going to continue appreciating truck drivers—and no one can stop us. A week isn’t enough to truly honor everyone who spends their days and nights on the highway hauling the goods and supplies that keep our economy, well, trucking.
The role truckers play in the modern world is impossible to overstate. For proof, just take a look at this week’s statistic.
Trucks hauled nearly two-thirds (65.5) of the total tonnage of North American freight in 2016. Moreover, the $700 billion value of all that freight eclipses that of other modes of cargo transportation.
