What We’re Thankful For This Year
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’ve been thinking: Why does this happen only once per year?
The food, the quality time with friends and family, the break from work—it’s a shame that everything we’re doing now gets mashed up in a single, annual tradition. I’m not necessarily proposing a feast every week (although, apparently, there’s a lot to be said for Shabbat), but maybe once a month? Every other month? Each quarter?
At the very least, I think we could all benefit from carving out some time to sit down and express gratitude more often—with or without the sweet potato casserole. I don’t know about you, but I find myself stuffing a year’s worth of thanks into a single occasion. It’s a lot for people to digest.
But since you’re already here, and in the spirit of the season, here are a few things the Compli team has felt thankful for over the past 12 months:
- The ability to help businesses focus on what matters. Here at Compli, we have the opportunity to contribute to the greater good every day by helping companies spend less time on workforce compliance busywork and more time on transforming the world. That is to say, we make it our mission to remove barriers to your mission.
- Recent turning points in the campaign to end workplace harassment. The past year will likely go down in history as the year people around the world woke up to the epidemic of harassment in the workplace and started shaking a leg to fight back. Although regulators like to take the credit, we know firsthand how employers—many of whom are Compli customers—are leading the way. Fewer and fewer people are experiencing harassment thanks to the education and programming that companies are putting into place.
- Employers undertaking greater efforts to engage employees. Beyond ending harassment, employers are taking on greater responsibility for the well being of their workers. Perhaps in part due to the tight employment market, companies are no longer winging their HR approaches, but implementing forward-thinking training, engagement, and development programs. We’re thankful for our role in empowering employers to give employees great places to work—by helping clarify expectations, reinforcing corporate culture, and generally getting everyone on the same page.
- All the people we’ve had the chance to meet. We’re passionate about compliance around here, but our work wouldn’t be half as exciting without all the fascinating people we get to meet. I’m talking about our subject matter experts, who know consumer regulations like the backs of their hands; the HR pros, who give us a broad view of workforce issues and trends; and, of course, our customers and prospects, who share their stories about what life is like in the trenches. From keeping us abreast of legal updates to blowing our minds with suggestions and use cases, you are the key to our platform’s continued innovation and success.
Whew—like I said, a lot of gratitude to convey! How about you? What are you thankful for this year?
