TKO Group Cuts Legal Expenses in Half and Drives Rapid Business Growth with Compli
TKO Group is a dealership group serving the Southeastern U.S. with brands such as Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, and Chevrolet Buick. Founded in 2003 with a single Toyota store, TKO Group now consists of six stores and 250 employees across Georgia and North Carolina.

While TKO saw tremendous success over the last 7 years, growth came with challenges. As TKO opened stores in new states, each with unique labor laws, it became difficult to keep handbooks on corporate policies and procedures up-to date. Especially as laws and business conditions changed. Paper-based handbooks included policies unique to each store. Despite their best efforts, the administrative staff didn’t have the necessary time to keep those policies up t o date.
TKO stored paper-based employee records under lock and key at each site, but this old-fashioned approach proved to be insecure. In one instance, a disgruntled employee removed write-ups to strengthen legal complaints against the company.
The lack of a centralized HR department intensified these challenges. The company relied on store managers to onboard, train, and manage documentation for their employees. Policies as well as data accuracy and completeness varied greatly from store to store.
Lawsuits are common in the auto industry, and they take time and money away from the core business.
It was clear to Nichole that to preserve TKO’s reputation and run the dealership group efficiently, they needed a more centralized, reliable, and scalable approach to workforce Compliance.
She selected Compli’s cloud-based platform for its fit to automotive industry requirements. “You’re partnered with people I respect and trust,” Nichole said, referring to Fisher & Phillips labor law experts for the automotive industry. She recognized that Compli packages policy and training content unique to the auto industry, making it a tailored, one-stop solution for TKO.
Nichole launched the platform in just a few weeks. “The Compli team was excellent and always very responsive. When I needed assistance in uploading a new form, BOOM, it was done and pushed out to everybody,” said Nichole.
With Compli, TKO now standardizes policies and automates critical Compliance initiatives to better protect the business. “Compli allows us to maintain employee data for life,” Nichole said in describing a key benefit of the system.
System use across stores is increasing. One successful store uses Compli’s comprehensive capabilities and has achieved a 99% Compliance score against their efforts. Also, they’ve avoided a costly lawsuit. “Dropped,” stated Nichole, simply, when asked how Compli impacted the case.

Quick Stats
With Compli, TKO reduces litigation expense thanks to harassment and discrimination lawsuit dismissals. Before Compli, TKO spent between 5,000 and $60,000 per complaint on legal fees. Now Compli protects the business and has cut legal expenses in half, as it is easy to prove that a Compliance activity was completed, acknowledged and signed-off by the employee. Employees can also view their own online records, located in the same place every time, so TKO Group now easily disputes claims of lack of access to policies.
In the end, tracking and accessing employee data through Compli dashboards avoids time-consuming, expensive litigation, allowing TKO Group to get back to the business of auto sales.
