Compli Helps Tricolor Auto Group Cut Time Spent on Managing Compliance Obligations by 50%
Tricolor Auto Group owns and operates a network of 16 Buy Here Pay Here (BHPH) dealerships with 300 employees focused entirely on the needs of the Hispanic market. Compli has also helped the auto group ensure their bilingual employees are fully informed and comfortable signing required forms and documents by making them available in their desired language.

After Felicia Taylor joined Tricolor in 2012 as the Director of Human Resources, she immediately noticed inefficiencies with the auto group’s paperwork and onboarding process, as well as issues with the availability of bilingual documents. Having used Compli’s Compliance Obligation
Management Platform at a previous auto group, she knew Compli would increase efficiency and reduce risk for Tricolor.
“I’m a big fan of the Compli Platform. It’s great for any business that has multiple locations to manage. So when I came to Tricolor and realized the company already had 16 locations, as well as plans to move into California, I realized it was time to get our corporate compliance program and the accompanying paperwork under control,” said Taylor. “Before Compli, we kept our most up-to-date onboarding packet on a shared drive. This process just wasn’t efficient. Managers would save the packet to different locations and it would become outdated or we’d get a packet back with forms or signatures missing. We were constantly chasing paper and employees.”
In addition, with a staff made up of primarily bilingual speakers, Taylor needed to ensure that those employees whose primary language was Spanish could read and understand the forms they were required to sign, and feel comfortable with the content.
After purchasing Compli’s cloud-based Compliance Obligation Management Platform, Taylor immediately set to work with implementation. Within weeks she had loaded all of Tricolor’s onboarding material (including policies, forms, trainings and more) onto the Compli Platform, making Tricolor’s entire Compliance Obligation Management process completely paperless.
“With Compli we’ve saved over $1,500 in file supplies alone. Like any dealership, we have a great deal of turnover and would have to create the files, file them and then pull those files when the employee moved on or was terminated. Now, we don’t have to do any of that and I love it.”
Compli has also helped the auto group ensure their bilingual employees are fully informed and comfortable signing required forms and documents by making them available in their desired language.
“The great thing about Compli’s Platform is that I can have a policy that is one-to-four pages long and I can PDF it in English and Spanish. We’re a bilingual company and many times employees may feel more comfortable reading a policy in their native tongue. With Compli, now I can feel confident knowing that employees really understand what they’re signing,“ said Taylor.

In addition to making the forms bilingual, Taylor also makes extensive use of the “Groups” feature within the Platform.
“One of the best features of Compli’s Platform is the ‘Groups’ feature which is completely customizable. For instance, if you have a Bilingual Group in your workplace, you can assign Spanish employees to a Spanish-only Group and send just those employees policies that are written in Spanish, or even policies that only apply to bilingual employees,” said Taylor.
Taylor estimates that with the Compli Platform, she freed up approximately 50% of her time, allowing her to focus on reducing turnover and increasing productivity.
Thanks to Compli, Taylor has done away with dusty, never-used “training” binders and instead relies on Compli’s library of content and trainings to keep her teams up to date on Red Flags Rule requirements, disciplinary issues and other compliance issues. In addition, the template forms contained within Compli’s Platform have even helped protect Tricolor from a few sticky unemployment claim issues.
“Compli has helped us with a number of unemployment claims. Through our documentation housed within Compli’s Platform, we’ve been able to show that we’ve followed a progressive disciplinary process and that, despite our outreach, employees failed to rectify their behavior,” said Taylor.
“Additionally, we have meetings every week with our managers to ensure their employees are what we call ‘100% green,’ which means their teams have a 100% compliance rate within Compli’s drill down departmental reports,“ said Taylor.
When asked what Taylor would say to Human Resource departments who have yet to try Compli, she responds, “Honestly, Compli is an HR department’s best friend.”
